The Pollokshaws Transformational Regeneration Area (TRA) is a thirteen hectare site straddling Shawbridge Street, bounded by Pollokshaws Road to the West, Ashtree Road/Riverford Road to the North, and Nether Auldhouse Road to the South.
The project is ongoing and the latest phase is being carried out under the title Connecting Pollokshaws. This will see money go into reviving Ashtree park, Toon House Square and making Riverford Road a better place to walk and cycle.
Glasgow City Council has defined a series of Liveable Neighbourhoods. We are part of a Liveable Neighbourhood with Mansewood, Hillpark, Pollokshields West, Shawlands and Strathbungo. The Liveable Neighbourhoods scheme is deigned to help promote four themes:
Local Town Centres
Active Travel
Everyday Journeys
Streets for People
The first phase involved an area wide survey. With later projects being developed from this, most recently in Mansewood and Hillpark.
Glasgow is developing its physically segregated cycle network under a plan called City Network. This active travel network is designed to transport people safely and conveniently to community spaces (e.g. schools, shops, public transport links and parks).
